DAY 3 - 

Dear Hot Bath, 

Oh how I love you. The way you make me feel. So peaceful. So warm. So soothed.
I love how even the anticipation of getting into you can relax me. It’s like my body, mind and spirit know what’s coming.

At first, when I step in, you’re so hot I can barely take it. But it feels so intense and delicious I can focus on nothing else. And as I stand, the scorching heat penetrates my feet and calves, and I already can feel the warmth traveling up my legs and torso, and I begin to melt into the bliss of it. My heart rate slows down and I start to breathe deeply and mindfully.

Next, I sink down to my hands and knees. The hot water feels so good on my cold hands and forearms. A few cat & cows feel like “luxurious medicine”. I can go at my own pace, I have all the time in the world…

Finally I sit down, and after awhile, lay down. Allowing the healing waters to embrace me, to envelop me, to cleanse me and purify me. I lay still and just be. There’s nowhere to go. Nothing to do. Just BE. I close my eyes and listen to the quiet, interrupted only by the drops of water leaking from the faucet, make tinkling sounds at my feet. If I had my eyes open I’d watch the circles ripple out and disappear. I allow my thoughts to do the same.

Eventually, when the water starts to cool down, my hot bath is telling me it’s time to go back to the ordinary world. But when I step out and dry myself off, watching all my worries spiral down the drain, I feel anything but ordinary.

Oh how I love you hot bath.
